چکیده
Laparoscopic instrument tracking systems are an essential component in image-guided interventions and offer new possibilities to improve and automate objective assessment methods of surgical skills. In this study we present our system design to apply a third generation optical pose tracker (MicronTracker®) to laparoscopic practice. A technical evaluation of this design is performed in order to analyze its accuracy in computing the laparoscopic instrument tip position. Results show a stable fluctuation error over the entire analyzed workspace. The relative position errors are 1.7761.675 mm, 1.8171.762 mm, 1.8541.740 mm, 2.4552.164 mm, 2.5452.496 mm, 2.7642.342 mm, 2.5122.493 mm for distances of 50, 100, 150, 200, 250, 300, and 350 mm, respectively. The accumulated distance error increases with the measured distance. The instrument inclination covered by the system is high, from 90 to 7.5 degrees. The system reports a low positional accuracy for the in-

Comparison of relative accuracy between a mechanical and an optical position tracker for image-guided neurosurgery.
An essential component in the execution of image-guided surgery is a hand-held probe whose spatial position is tracked during the procedure and displayed on a three-dimensional operative workstation. This paper describes an experiment performed in order to compare the accuracy of a mechanically linked pointing device (FARO surgical arm) and an optical position tracker (OPTOTRAK) against a "gold...
متن کاملEvaluation of the Intel RealSense SR300 camera for image-guided interventions and application in vertebral level localization
PURPOSE: Optical pose tracking of medical instruments is often used in image-guided interventions. Unfortunately, compared to commonly used computing devices, optical trackers tend to be large, heavy, and expensive devices. Compact 3D vision systems, such as Intel RealSense cameras can capture 3D pose information at several magnitudes lower cost, size, and weight. We propose to use Intel SR300 ...

Accurate estimation of motion from time-varying imagery has been a popular problem in vision studies, This information can be used in segmentation, 3D motion and shape recovery, target tracking, and other problems in scene analysis and interpretation. We have presented a dynamic image model for estimating image motion from image sequences, and have shown how the solution can be obtained from a ...

Introduction: Different approaches have been developed to find the position of the internal auditory canal (IAC)in middle cranial fossa approach. A feasibility study was performed to investigate the combination of cone beam computed tomography (CBCT), optical coherence tomography (OCT), and laser ablation to assist a surgeon in a middle cranial fossa approach by outlining the internal auditory ...
متن کاملA fast model for prediction of respiratory lung motion for image-guided radiotherapy: A feasibility study
Background: The aim of this work was to study the feasibility of constructing a fast thorax model suitable for simulating lung motion due to respiration using only one CT dataset. Materials and Methods: For each of six patients with different thorax sizes, two sets of CT images were obtained in single-breath-hold inhale and exhale stages in the supine position. The CT images were then ...
